By Caryl Churchill
Directed by Claire Bauman
Someone sneezes. Someone can’t get a signal. Someone won’t answer the door. Someone put an elephant on the stairs. Someone’s not ready to talk. Someone is her brother’s mother. Someone hates irrational numbers. Someone told the police. Someone got a message from the traffic light. Someone’s never felt like this before.
In this fast-moving kaleidoscope, more than a hundred characters try to make sense of what they know.
Approximate run time: 2 hours, no intermission
Suggested Ages: 13+
POST SHOW CONVERSATIONS MAY 7 & 8:
Much like life in 2026, there is almost too much to process in Churchill’s Love & Information. Within its kaleidoscopic whirlwind, no two people will see the same story. Join us for a post-show conversation with dramaturg Hannah Probst, in which we will reflect on the play together and connect its stories with our daily lives.
ON STAGE SEATING ADDED
Experience the Closeness this Play Craves
Get all the love—and all the information—up close with our first-ever, theater-in-the-round, onstage seating. That’s right, we’re transforming the Barber Theater into a “theater in the round.”
Caryl Churchill’s Love & Information is a play about intimacy—how we find it, how we lose it, and how we try to rebuild it. Our newly transformed theater‑in‑the‑round staging brings that intimacy into sharp focus—and our premium onstage seats bring you closer still.
From just feet away, you’ll witness the raw, human flashes that define Churchill’s mosaic: the confessions, the glitches, the breakthroughs, the questions that hang in the air. When information is everywhere, closeness becomes the rarest thing we can offer.
